A FEW WORDS FROM OUR PRESIDENT…
Fellow MAC Archers, lots of news to tell you about this month. First, applications and dues are now due for the 2010 year. Elections were held and we now have some new executive members. First let me thank the outgoing executives for a job well done in taking this club to the next level. The new executives are JR Kirby, VBA Representative; Jeremy Spiker, Range Captain; and Gina Nadzam, Secretary. Congratulations, I know you guys will continue the trend to make this a bigger and better club. I also want to thank those that sent their ballots in and have already paid their dues.

Hunting season is winding down but there is still some time to get in some late season bow hunting. Please send pictures of your harvests for the newsletter and website. Congratulations to Dave Robinson and Reece Hensley on their Archery Bear harvests.

Indoor season is right around the corner and there is lots of news to report. JR Kirby and Greg Sisk have installed tile floors in the kitchen and wood stove room, thanks guys! Sunday Indoor League is full and will run for 12 weeks starting January 3rd at 1:00pm. There are still openings available in Thursday Indoor League which starts January 7th at 7:00pm. The Indoor Building will be open Sundays in December at 11:00am for practicing with a $5.00 charge for unlimited shooting. There are some new rules this year for the indoor leagues that were voted on at the last meeting. They will be posted at the building and explained before the first shoots. We also need wood donations for heating the building and volunteers to help run the kitchen or donate food dishes.

On a final note, I want to thank all members of the club for allowing me to preside, it is something I enjoy doing and take seriously. I will continue to do what it takes to make this club grow and be better for all the members.

See you at the Indoor Range,
Wade

***********************************************************************************
And the Winners for 2010& 2011 Officers are….

A Note From the Outgoing Secretary, Michele Sommers:

Thank you all so much for so warmly welcoming me into the Club, even though I don’t shoot! I have enjoyed being your Secretary, and regret not being able to continue in this position. I know that Gina will do a fantastic job… she has already helped me on many occasions, so she already knows most of what is involved. I will be assisting her, and look forward to continuing to be part of the Club! Again, thank you all so much… see you around!

A Few Words From the MAC President..

Lots of news and information to share this month. Congratulations go out to Brian Benson, Joseph Dawkins and Phil Painter for winning the 3-Man 3D Shoot. Charlie Wright, Greg Sisk and I (Wade Colton) took second. Joseph Dawkins had the high score. JR Kirby won the “Iron Buck” contest; Greg Sisk and I tied in the 100 yd. Balloon Shot; Jeremy Spiker and I won the Horseshoe Tournament.

The 1st Annual MAC Banquet, I think, went really well. Thanks to all who supplied food and congratulations to all the members who received awards. Hopefully this will continue to grow and be better every year.

Our next meeting will be November 6th. We will be taking last call for nominations of Executive Members. We will also be discussing rules for this year’s upcoming Indoor Season, so come out to the meeting; you could win $160.00 and nominate members who you think could better this club.

On a final note, congratulations to Gina Nadzam on her very first Bow Harvest. Way to go Gina!

A Few Words From the MAC President..

Outdoor season is winding down and everybody is starting to look towards hunting season. I’m glad to report that Massanutten made a good showing at the VBA 3-D Fall Classic. Charlie Wright is State Champion winning the AMFS Division. MAC had three women take the top three spots in the AFBHFS, Gina Nadzam-State Champion, Karen Williams-2nd and Lindsey Brown-3rd. Also of note, Jeremy Spiker took 2nd in the AMBHFS; Arthur Sommers was 5th, Wade Colton 6th and Jared Williams 11th. Great job guys!

In other news, MAC will be having its 1st Awards Banquet on September 26th at the Indoor Building . Please plan on attending. This banquet, I hope, will grow bigger and better through the years. It will be a Pot Luck Dinner, so please bring a dish and/or dessert if attending and BYOB. The banquet starts at 6:00pm for social hour, dinner at 7:00pm, followed by awards and fun.

The pot for the drawing at the Monthly Meeting is still growing. The latest member drawn was Tim Frenz. Plan to attend the meeting on September 4th, the pot is now $120.00. Another reason to attend the meeting is a chance to voice your opinion on the way the club is run and to participate in the many hunting competitions we have planned (Squirrel Contest, Big Buck and Big Doe Contest).

On a final note, the terms of the executive members are about to expire so anyone interested in running for a position or nominating someone, please plan on attending the next few meetings.

Thanks,

Wade

A Few Words From the MAC President..

This has been a busy month at the MAC Range. The 4-Man Team shoot, I think, was a big success. We had nine teams, loads of fun and great food. I want to apologize to some of the Shooters that were misinformed about the shoot being a money payback. If you ever have questions about shoot prices, dates or need any other information, please check the MAC website (macarchery.blogspot.com) or call me personally.

Thanks go out to Jeremy Spiker and Jared Williams for setting the range; John Barbee for donating the Pig; Keith Maddox and Brian Benson for sand in the Horseshoe Pits; Tommy and Crystal Jenkins for the fabulous pork rub; Bradley Robinson for digging the hole to cook the pig, and all those who donated the great side dishes. Thanks also to Dave Robinson and Al Painter for all the work they’ve done on the Field Range, and Reece Hensley and Dave Robinson for their work on the concrete slab and the bridge to the practice range. Thanks guys the range looks great! Winners of the 4-Man shoot were Al Painter, Jeremy Dean, Vance Cave and Mitch Stonesifer.

Our Annual was also a great success. Thanks again to all those that donated side dishes, JR Kirby for cooking the chicken and Gina Nadzam for running the kitchen. Thanks to Jeremy Spiker for helping me with setting up the “Tuffman” 3D Range and George Jenkins for loaning us the Iron Buck. We had quite a few Shooters (Spots and 3D) and the novelty shoots were really fun. Arthur Sommers won the 100 yard Balloon Shoot, JR Kirby won the Iron Buck Shoot and Justin Lloyd won the Tuffman 3D Shoot. JR Kirby and Robbie Atkins won the Horseshoe Tournament on Saturday evening and Brian Benson won the 50/50 raffle. Thanks to all those that participated.

The Spot League is now over, with Al Painter and Phil Painter taking first place. The Club Championship Trophy will be given at a later date, when we have our banquet. We will also be discussing the banquet at the next meeting, so please plan to attend and share your ideas.

I would also like to welcome new members Greg Goode and family and Tim Frenz and family. Hope to see you on the range.

Don’t forget Aug 29th is our last big 3D shoot of the year, the “Greg Sisk Memorial, 3-Man 3D Shoot". It’s a great shoot to celebrate the life of a great man and great friend. If you want to shoot for 3D Shooter of the Year, you must have three scores before this shoot to qualify, so get out to the range on Thursday evenings and shoot some 3Ds.

Wade

FYI…
*Tad Hartsell was the name drawn at the July meeting, and since he was not in attendance, the pot is now up to $100... The last meeting took 12 minutes, so that would have been nearly $7 a minute… hmmm… pays to show up!

A Few Words From the MAC President..

There is a lot of news and upcoming events this month. First off, Troy Kirby would have won the drawing for showing up at the June meeting. The new total for the July 3rd meeting will be $80.00.

Al Painter and Greg Sisk won the Half and Half Shoot on June 6th, congratulations.

The Spot League still has a few weeks left, and Thursday Night 3Ds are not showing very big turnouts. It’s never too early to start practicing for hunting season, so let’s get out there and have some fun. We only had 13 Shooters for our Father’s Day Spot Shoot.

The new 3D Targets are in and I’ve had the pleasure to shoot them. I think they’re going to hold up well. The arrows pull fairly easy and the holes seem to swell shut.

Now for new business and upcoming events: The 4-Man 3D Team Shoot is July 11th. The pig will be furnished by John Barbee and any side dish donations will be greatly appreciated. Due to the bad economy, not as much adult beverage will be provided this year, but for $25.00 a person you can shoot and eat all you want. Also, our Annual is on July 18th and 19th, side dish donations would also be appreciated for this shoot. There will be lots of fun for everyone – Spot Shoots – 3Ds – Novelty Shoots – Coon Shoot – Horseshoes – Cards – Camping, an all around good time.

Hope to see all of you there. Come out and support your Club.

Wade

A Few Words From the MAC President..
Outdoor season is in full swing. Thursday night 3D’s have been up and running and the Spot League has now started on Tuesday nights. Come out and shoot and have some fun. The range is in the best shape ever, it has now been inspected and many improvements have been made. The practice range has been moved, which now gives us the opportunity to offer primitive camping on the old practice range.

New 3D Targets have been ordered and should be here soon. Congratulations go out to Vance Cave and Phillip Morris for winning the 2-Man Unknown 3D Shoot on April 25th. Also, congratulations to JR and Heather Kirby on the birth of their daughter Kayla.

Many thanks go out to the people listed below for their work on the range recently: Jared Williams, Tim Reedy, Brian Benson, Al Painter, Reece Hensley, JR Kirby, Dave Robinson, Hunter Munsen, Jayson Sealock, Robbie Atkins and Gina Nadzam. A special thanks to Tommy Jenkins for supplying the Dozer and Wood Chipper, Vance Cave for the use of his Bobcat, Ralph Santmyers for operating the Dozer and Bradley Robinson for using his Tractor to spread gravel and York rack. When you see any of these guys, thank them and tell them how good the range looks.

The drawing at the monthly meetings is now up to $60.00. Keith Maddox was drawn at the April meeting and Jared Williams was drawn at the May meeting. Don’t let someone else claim money you could win! Show up at the meetings, it’s that simple. Remember, club policies and decisions are made by those who care enough to attend and participate in the monthly meetings.

Spring is here and Indoor season is over. Thanks to all those that participated and congratulations to David, Jen, Jay and Lisa on winning the Thursday League, and Greg, Vance, Al and Ralph for winning the Sunday League. Also, Vance Cave shot a perfect season and never dropped a single point.

In other news, MAC received a First Place Award from the VBA for “Most Increased Membership from a Small Club” with an increase of 53%. Let’s see if we can increase enough to become one of the big clubs. Also, we are going to have a Spot League starting in May. As of now we have nine 2-Man teams signed up. More details will follow, but if you would like to shoot or be involved in running the league please contact me.

On a final note, the Indoor Cookout went well. Thanks to Dave Robinson and Robbie Atkins for cooking the chicken and to all those who provided side dishes, everything was wonderful. Also thanks to Jeremy Spiker for bringing the cooker to the indoor building.

Still need some help wrapping things up with the heat room addition, see Dave Robinson if you can lend a hand…
